I’ve got this idea, I really would like to try and pull it off but I’m not sure I could convince anyone to let me do it, especially now that I’m not a student anymore.
I want to try and use the student grill for Sunday matinee type shows, the location is really nice, big windows, beautiful view, lots of space and with a good PA setup a decent sound. Sunday is really the only day that would work, since the grill is closed those days, so all we would need is one person running the register and making coffee and espresso drinks. I could do all that myself or maybe have Paul help. I would do the work pro bono but I don’t know if Aramark would let me. Montreat is not so far away from Asheville that we couldn’t get a crowd as long as we have a good band. Punk and Indie, no hardcore unless it was something that would draw a well behaved crowd. I would especially love to do a few shows like this and film them. I could get the Music Business program involved which might make this a more realistic possibility. I should talk this over with Auman and see what he thinks.
I got the idea from this video of Bars of Gold playing in a hot dog restaurant and I daydreamed about it every Saturday while I was working down here last semester.
